Shitty Steam fedi chat channel I made, because I love pain and suffering s.team/chat/FP1SUouc

@VD15 how the fuck do you use that, i've heard from some new zealand pasture cultivators that it's terrible

@pasture I don’t know, I think that’s the fun of it because noone else does, ehther.

@pasture @VD15 rofl this picture is just upsetting

i cant place EXACTLY what is quite so alarming but i do not like this please return it
@pasture @VD15 oh no, i can place it now. its everything i hate about discord's ux (basically the whole damn thing) jacked up to 11
@steakwipe
You can use other software for the FE. But it's kinda buggier and shittier
@VD15 @pasture
@igel i legit assumed as much but i really wanted to lean *in* to the "oh my god" angle i opened with

i promise im not actually as dumb as i say i am lol :D

@VD15 @pasture
@steakwipe
Compared to most FSE posters, most here are fucking geniuses
@VD15 @pasture
@igel in my defense i always know i am being ridiculous or at least a little annoying

but its kinda fun

@VD15 @pasture
@steakwipe @igel @VD15 @pasture this is a surprisingly accurate assessment coming from the likes of you
@pasture @VD15 join #general:matrix.kiwifarms.net to hang out with cool person and other, not as cool people.
@crunklord420 @VD15 @pasture yeah i know that but I'm wondering how the general matrix channel is doing. I was in there a while back but I never posted much so I left. I'm wondering if it's changed much.
@fluffy @VD15 @pasture not really it goes through phases depending on if joseph is posting constantly or not.

@VD15 i'm just reading the setup guide for the server and everything was gangsta until you get to the "Explanations" section

> Why are certificate errors actually perfectly safe?
> Don't be worried about signature errors when joining rooms, timeouts from random domain names, and failed requests to random domain names. Because matrix (at this point) uses perspectives to validate certificates so there is no need to validate a certificate by an certificate authority. Tl;dr: Other matrix server look at the cert, and if they see the same cert your server does, you're not being MITM'ed (Man-in-the-middle), a bit like peer validation. It is possible to configure which peers are trusted in homeserver.yaml, by default it's just matrix.org.

@pasture @VD15
the docs are fucking retarded, I agree. I tried to self-host it, but couldn't find a proper guide. I'll just stick with xmpp for now

@haibane @VD15 yeah, i agree there, but that security mechanism sounds retarded. what stops a MITM between you and matrix.org or any other defined homeserver?
